Ali Omar KomboName: Ali Omar Kombo
Age: 14

Ali is a very quiet and thoughtful boy and enjoys listenting to music and playing football with the other children. He shows great interest in technology such as the laptop, camera or the iPod and has taken a liking to a recorder, one of the toys kindly donated by someone in the UK. Ali loves school and is doing very well.

Anna SimeonName: Anna Simeon
Age: 5

Anna and her brother Kijana joined us in December 2010 and have settled in well, although they have never been used to being given 3 meals a day and would try to eat anything given to them in the first few weeks at Footprints, even pencils or crayons! Anna is always playing with Njoki and they especially love playing on the swings of with the dolls.

Bakari KijembeName: Bakari Kijembe
Age: 11

Like most orphaned children Bakari's exact age is unknown. Bakari is very polite and respectful and likes to help the staff around the home fatching, carrying, learning what they are doing and on Martins day off Bakari feeds the chickens! Bakari's infectious laugh can be heard all around the home and he has a great sense of humour! He also likes to invite children from the village to play football at the weekends as he is very socialable.

Dorothy MwikaliName: Dorothy Mwikali
Age: 1

Dorothy (or Dotty) is very quiet and shy, but has come out of her shell a little since she arrived at Footprints and is developing a personality of her own. She was actually overweight when she came to Footprints because she has only ever been fed on porridge and thereofre was also malnourished. Dotty has become much healthier after her new balanced diet at Footprints!

Elizabeth KiviuName: Elizabeth Kiviu

Eliza can be extremely shy sometimes but is has come out of her shell a lot since she first came to Footprints. She loves reading and drawing pictures. Eliza has an infectious giggle and finds everything funny! She is very loving and always wants hugs and kisses. Eliza is getting a lot more confident in her school work, and is learning English words and songs.

George KiviuName: George Kiviu

George is a beautiful little boy. When he arrived at Footprints aged 4 months he was just skin and bones and weighed only 3.5kg (8lbs). The difference in his appearance is remarkable, he is now walking and beginning to talk and proving to be a handful for the housemothers who much watch him 24/7! George loves visiting the beach and going in the sea. He has lots and lots of clothes and toys that were all very kindly dontated by people in the UK.

Hadija KijembeName: Hadija Kijembe
Age: 10

Hadija is a very confident girl who loves to sing and dance and play football! She also enjoys playing with the dolls with Njoki, plaiting their hair. She is always smiling and is very bright and since coming to Footprints in 2010 she has become much more mature and thoughtful; caring for the younger children and studying hard at school - her English is improving all the time.

Hassan KijembeName: Hassan Kijembe
Age: 7

Hassan is a very sweet child and makes everyone smile with his mischievous grin! He is always singing or dancing to impress everybody and has the best dance moves ever! He loves his food and he is always playing football with Mutua and Kijana. Hassan is very bright, and often comes top of the class at school! Hassan is eager to learn new English words by copying what Mama says!

Jane KiviuName: Jane Kiviu
Age: 15

As the oldest of her siblings, Jane is the most obviously affected by her traumatic past and was at first very private and reserved. After settling into her new home she is now happy and always smiling and playing with her sisters - she can once again enjoy her childhood. Jane is brilliant with baby George and loves being given the responsibility to feed or change him. She also enjoys going into the village with her school friends during lunch breaks at school.

Kijana SimeonName: Kijana Simeon

Kijana came to Footprints with his sister Anna in December 2010. Kijana has settled in very well and is best friends with Hassan and Mutua who go everywhere together.

Mary KiviuName: Mary Kiviu

Out of the three sisters, Mary is undoubtedly the most confident. She is constantly happy and bubbly, and loves music and dancing. She always wanted to listen to the guests iPods! She also enjoys playing football with the boys. Mary is very caring towards her younger siblings and the rest of the children at the orphanage, and she has settled in very well in such a short space of time. She is particularly close to Hadija and the two are rarely apart; we joke that they are "partners in crime"!

Mutua KeliName: Mutua Keli
Age: 6

Mutua is a happy child who goes to school and is willing to learn, his English is improving as he was only speaking in mother-tongue when he arrived. He loves playing with toy building blocks and playing on the new swings we have at the home.

Njoki  MasauName: Njoki Masau
Age: 5
Joined us on: 20th April 2010

Njoki was the first child to be given a new home at Footprints Orphanage and is such a beautiful, happy go lucky child and always smiling. She loves playing with Anna, if they are not playing on the swings or see-saw together they will be drawing pictures or playing with lego or the dolls. She loves her food especially chapatis and chicken, and the pretty clothes that we have given her, all donated by people in the UK.

Samwell KatanaName: Samwell Katana
Age: 5

Samwell was found living with an elderly maternal grandfather after the death of his parents, their living conditions were very poor and the grandfather was financially unable to provide regular food for Samwell and relied on the local church to help. He is a joyful little boy, full of energy and willing to join in with singing and playing , he started school for the first time and can now write his name and numbers 1 – 10, it is evident t he is just enjoying being in a happy safe environment.

Tumaini KatanaName: Tumaini Katana
Age: 2

Tumaini is a lovely little girl with a strong personality, she loves to play with toy dolls with the other children around the home, and enjoys the new see-saw. She now eats well and sleeps through the night. She is together with her brother Samwell here at Footprints where she will get her basic needs and the love care and security of family life.
